Little Fellas with a Stache

Within the past few months I have become a true pinterest addict. It might actually be border line unhealthy. But I'm thinking, as long as I keep making things for my adorable niece and little nephews, it not really a bad thing..... Anyway. In my hours of pinterest searching I found the perfect presents for my nephews, Emmett and Dirk. Since I don't like near them, I figure the next best thing is buying their love. I'll craft my way there!
Mustache Pacifiers!!
As I've looked up craft and DIY blogs, everyone documents the creativity process. So here goes my first attempt - should anyone fall in love with these and want to make their own!

Step one: foam sheets from Walmart, and pacifiers
come to find out, I was a little out of the loop - not being a mother yet- that there are many different types of pacifies. Thanks to Mitch I eventually found the right ones. Thanks Mitch!
Step two: cut out the mustaches.
But be sure not to make them too big! I don't think this would work quite so well on a little fella. But I had fun =D
Step three: add a little hot glue and VOILA!! the little guy becomes a little mister.
Step four: mail goodies and wait to get the adorable pictures!
This one features little Emmett. Thanks Abby!
The picture of Dirk is yet to be, seeing as he hasn't made his grand entrance to the world yet

Felt Dolls for Torrance

This summer my sister-in-law, Abby, and I made a fun present for our niece, Torrance, for her 2nd birthday. She's the cutest and girl and I can't believe she's two!!  Since we are both creative souls, we decided to make it and delve into our creative streaks. I found the idea in by blog surfing ( I found it a while ago, and so I don't remember what blog). But here it is!

The embellishments were the funnest part! And then inspired by Tangled, I designed Rapunzel's dress and her wonderful long hair! The packets of felt that I found didn't have brown for some reason, which explains the random hair colors =D

Design for Shabby Apple

This Summer Shabby Apple is holding a Dare to Design Competition. I would love to one day design clothes as a side job from my home. I decided here would be a good start to see what I might be capable of. So here is my first properly finished sketch.

Fabric: Cotton and Spandex blend

Colors: Cream with deep plum purple lace band

Inspiration: A little over 2 years ago my brother got married. While the design for the bridesmaid dresses was up in the air I would sketch ideas during my free time and as doodles during class. Although my ideas weren’t chosen, my love of designing was born. I have since been working on my sewing skills and haven’t stopped sketching my ideas.

This discovered love of dress design merged with my love of old movies. For as long as I can remember I have loved old movies. Through them my love for vintage clothing, especially that of Edith Head, grew. This dress “The old pizzazz” was inspired particularly by “Funny Face”. Audrey Hepburn’s wardrobe mixed with my love of lace accents produced this dress of simplicity, sophistication, and elegance.

Hello everyone!

In 4 days I will be graduating! Can you believe it?! My major in Art History will be complete. Now I just need to work on that whole getting a job thing. Between working on that I'm hoping to complete a whole list of projects that I've accumulated, mostly this past year, but haven't been able to do because of school. In a few days that hold up will be over!
Sorry this is a short intro, but more is coming! Stay tuned!
